Time passed without anyone paying attention, and massive cracks began to form on the ice sheets north of Floe Bay. Spring had arrived, a season of activity for everything from gophers to dragons.
Everyone by Sharonâs side could sense that Her Excellency was growing extremely strange. Her emotions started to fluctuate without a pattern, like those of a little girl with a rabbitâs heart. The ascended mages in contact with her grew extremely cautious, with even someone trusted like Fayr having to be prudent. Some people guessed that these were the stirrings of love, and the ascended mages who had vast experience knew that beasts were most dangerous in the breeding season.
With the afternoon sun shining overhead, the legendary mage was lazing on her couch while so lost in thought that sheâd even forgotten to eat her fruits. She was dressed casually, the soft ivory-colored silk gown sticking to her like a second skin, but the bare feet resting on an armrest showcased her tender, pearly skin. This was a pair of feet that was extremely tempting, the tiny bit of calf they revealed enough to spark the imagination of even the dullest fools.
However, no dull people could stay by the legendary mageâs side. The professors all chose to disregard the spring radiance Sharon exuded, no stray thoughts in their minds. Most of the people here had followed her through battles from plane to plane, while the rest had taken part in creating the Deepblue. They all knew her terrifying methods very well, and in their eyes, the person reclining in front of them wasnât a soft young lady but an ancient dragon that would crush anything that annoyed her.
The mages made their reports as per usual, but Sharon herself was obviously lazy and disinterested. Her eyes were even flickering shut regularly. A servant walked in at some point, stating that the art professor had come to seek an audience. Sharonâs narrowed eyes did not move for a long while, and only when the servant was almost unable to maintain his bow and started glancing helplessly at the ascended mages did she lazily nod.
The maestro then approached her fearfully, a painting in hand. As someone without the qualifications to attend a meeting with so many higher-ups, heâd never had such a feeling before. His throat bobbed as his gaze found itself on Sharonâs legs, but tens of piercing stares quickly reminded him of his impropriety, and he started shivering. Thankfully Her Excellency hadnât opened her eyes, instead still looking dazed as if she was thinking about something.
He walked over to the couch and bowed, not daring to let his gaze land on any part of Sharonâs body again as he revealed the piece he was holding close to his chest, âYour Excellency, your apprentice Steven painted a portrait of you. It was an amazing piece of art, which is why I was so bold as to take some of your precious time to hand it over.â
Sharonâs narrowed eyes finally opened completely, and she began to focus.
